Today started in the glass of milk again, but luckily the terrain was flat and gentle, so it was fine to walk blind. We aimed for Thiel Corner, a mountain massif roughly halfway to the South Pole. We deliberately did a “short” day — about 6 hours and 18 km — and with that, we had a rest day! It felt really good to have two extra hours in camp to recharge.
The funny thing is that we’ve been skiing for about three weeks without seeing anything but snow and sky, and then we reach the only mountains there are to see — and there’s zero visibility, so they’ve practically sunk into the earth. Oh well, that’s how it turned out this time 🩵
