Day 21 to the Southpole

What a day 🤩

Brilliant sunshine from a cloudless sky and just a little wind. A near-perfect day in Antarctica.

The day started, as usual, with coffee in the sleeping bag, served by today’s kitchen girl, Emma, followed by a portion of oatmeal with butter! We found a really good butter in Punta Arenas.

Then it was time to pack up house and home and bring it all with us. Out on skis — cheerful as always 😊

After a small uphill section with some sastrugi, the terrain finally flattened out and we could ski a bit more easily, which also means more kilometers. We ski for 1 hour, then take a 10-minute break where we eat, drink, and go to the bathroom. Then we continue until we’ve done 8 hours on skis. That’s how the days go out here.

Now we’re lying in the tent, and it’s completely windless outside — and nowhere in the world is as quiet as a windless day in Antarctica!

Magical 💙🇦🇶
