Today it’s my birthday 🎉 🥳🎁🎈🎂

This is my third birthday at 87 degrees South! I must really like it here!

The day started with Emma waking me up with a birthday song, coffee, cake with candles and flags, balloons, and a very sweet letter ❤️

With a start like that, this simply had to become the best birthday ever!

The sun is shining from a cloudless sky, and Antarctica is inviting us to dance in the sastrugi. I’m not much of a dancer, but when Antarctica asks, you just have to say yes. If you step on the other person’s foot a little, that’s okay. If it doesn’t look very graceful from the outside, that’s okay too. As long as you’re dancing with someone you care about, it feels right. And I care about Antarctica 💙

A sharp wind from the east gave us a good reason to stay tucked into our hoods, well protected by the wolverine fur.

This has been the birthday of a lifetime!

Happy holidays to everyone back home!
